Even the dead can die...the second in the riveting series about the private investigator who bridges both sides of the great divide.

Charles Manson. Ted Bundy. Jeffrey Dahmer. Known for their cunning and savagery. In the late eighties, another infamous serial killer sent 17 innocent people to early graves. Then, suddenly, the murders in the panicked city of Portland, Oregon, stopped - and the Goodbye Killer got away.

Myron Vale remembers it well. Long before a fateful bullet cursed him with the ability to see ghosts, he was the young son of the city's most esteemed detective. The case changed Hank Vale, haunting him with a single glimpse of the killer's otherworldly face. He was never the same man again. Or the same father.

Now a new victim points to the Goodbye Killer's return. And when the most powerful forces on the other side of the great divide approach Myron desperate for help, he uncovers a terrifying truth. It's not just the living who should fear for their immortal souls...even the dead can die.

The Ghost Who Said Goodbye (Audible Audio Edition) Scott William Carter Steven Roy Grimsley Flying Raven Press Books

The character of Myron Vale is someone that you really want to dislike. He's gruff, complicated, and hard to love. Strangely, he does become more endearing as each book progresses.

With paranormal subjects and scenarios as a theme, quality can get thrown out the window. Still, the scenes are well drawn, and character development is better than most.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS.............

Still, I find it quite puzzling as to why Myron chose to open up to Jak, someone significantly younger and equally as damaged. I suppose they can relate. Still, the relationship doesn't seem to make sense, and I wonder what will come of it.

The Ghost Who Said Goodbye (Audible Audio Edition) Scott William Carter Steven Roy Grimsley Flying Raven Press Books Reviews

I loved the book, the story, and it was very well written. It's been rather difficult lately to find books that aren't loaded with mistakes. I only found ONE mistake in this book, and it was only the use of the wrong name on page 197. Other than that, punctuation and spelling are perfect, and the story flows very well. I'm hooked. Couldn't put it down. Was very tempted to call into work sick !!!! Currently searching for book three of the Myron Vale series! Need it quick!
Another grand Myron Vale story. Something is killing innocent people. Something very scary. Ghosts are leaving town. Myron is hired to hunt it down. A new love for Myron??? Will he be able to do what he's set out to do??

This story was non-stop action. Full heart and hope. Scenes that got my heart racing and left my breathless and wanting more! Bloody brilliant book!!!
The books are good but too sad for me. I wasn't going to read the second one but the preview enticed me and even though it was interesting, I found it disappointing how sad. I'm still giving it a good review because it was interesting and I thought it well written.
One of my favorite movies is "The Sixth Sense" and these books are a little like that but not quite as dramatic. There is more humor in these, which is great if you're reading to have fun, which I usually do. The main character, Myron Vale, became able to see both the living and the dead after getting shot in the head, but he can't always tell the two apart. This causes some uncomfortable attention from the living and requires the skill of quick and creative thinking on Myron's part. I really enjoyed the first two books, and I'm about to start the third. Probably as soon as I finish this review!
Now I'll be up past my bedtime or there won't be any pumpkin pies for the family tomorrow. I really thought I'd just read a bit before I got to work but I got to the point where I just HAD to find out what happened. This has happened to me with some of the author's other books so I should have known better. This is a fun paranormal series so I recommend getting the "Must Do" things done before letting yourself get too engrossed.
I have read another detective series by this author, and found the "Ghost Detective" to be put together much better. The way the concept, that a former policeman has come to be able to see and communicate with ghosts is handled, and how that gift is used, makes for an interesting story.
The last of a series (so far), Myron Vale, Private Investigator, is still dealing with his annoying, embarrassing (but sometimes helpful), ability to see, talk to, and hear ghosts. Not just occasionally, but ALL the time.... and ALL the ghosts. So many that it's difficult for him to tell the difference between the living and the dead. And now, he has an even more disturbing problem.... he has to find and stop an entity called the Goodbye Killer, and most believe it's either a ghost or a demon, because this killer can even kill a ghost. This is an I-just-can't-put-it-down book for sure. Scott Carter is an extremely talented writer, who can weave an exciting story with the best of them. I'm hoping this isn't the last in this Ghost Detective series, and will be watching for a new episode to come onto the bookshelves (or the for me). Highly recommended!!!!!
